Coffee Shop to Reopen



The coffee shop, formerly known as "The Daily Bean", will reopen on Monday, January 9th. The new name is "Let's Meet for Coffee". The shop is located at 109 E. Highland.

The Great American Family Diner is Open

The Great American Family Diner at 231 Douglas is open!
The ribbon cutting is on Thursday, December 15th at 5pm.
I stopped by for lunch today. Here's the highlights.
  • Diner menu
  • Plenty of hot coffee
  • My server Kathy called me sweetie
  • Friendly staff and owners
  • Saw Councilman Tom Sandor and Jack Sabo of Studio One chowing down

They are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner so stop by and tell them DNA sent you.

This Saturday the entertainment is a singer performing Frank Sinatra Christmas songs from 7 to 9 pm. Have dinner and enjoy the music.

The Great American Family Diner Set to Open in November

The Great American Family Diner is moving to downtown from it's Villa St. location. It will be located in the space formally occupied by Anthony's Restaurant and Jazz Club. The site is at a prime location onDouglass and Kimball. They expect to open in early November and will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Demi & Cooper Ribbon Cutting



An Elgin Area Chamber ribbon cutting was held on Friday at Demi & Cooper Advertising. They renovated the Elks Club on VIlla St. into their offices. They are the firm that created the "It's Happening Here" ad campaign. See a previous post for more info.

Bookstore Coffee Shop Coming Downtown


Rachel’s Books & CafĂ© is relocating to the former EFS bank site at Spring and Chicago streets. They will be moving from their Schaumburg location to Elgin in July. Read more about the shop in the Daily Herald article. Last year's downtown survey rated a bookstore high on the retail wish list.
